An affordable, full and compact day of One-to-One personalised tuition, ideal for preparing students for college/university interview, a taster day for your career, or simply just to increase your skills and knowledge. These bespoke sessions are delivered exactly according to your needs or requirements and personalised to fit around you. Kate works in film, tv, stage, editorial and media events across the UK and abroad and will pass on her vast knowledge and experience with useful tips and tricks of the trade to help you succeed in this competitive industry.
The day consists of :
Kate offers a 5 hour 1:1 session in the comfort of your own home * (see below) with full use of all equipment, products, resource materials and careers advice with the main focus on creating and producing a wide range of effects used in the TV, film and stage makeup industry. Photos will be taken throughout the session for your own use with the aim of you producing a small portfolio of your work, if required, which can be used in conjunction with your college or university application and for future reference material.
The day will consist of an introduction to the special effects kit, looking at different products available on the market, pricing, ease of use etc followed by familiarisation with tools, hygiene, health & safety guidelines and removal techniques. You will then be lead and guided through a wide range of special effect applications (you will need to provide your own model), using your own creativity and inspiration wherever possible. Photos will be taken throughout the session and it is intended that the day should run at a relaxed and informal pace giving you every possible opportunity to question and learn. All sessions are personalised exactly to your needs.

I had just started my GCSE drama tech year when my Mum surprised me with a workshop with Kate. I was so surprised when Kate arrived at my home as she had boxes and boxes of make-up, paints, brushes, special effects and so much more. Kate spent the whole day with me teaching the techniques of trauma make up, how to make a 15 year old look like a Granny, stage make up and lots of other special effects. Kate was so patient all day despite the fact that Men’s Wimbledon final was on and it was also boiling hot! We had a fun day and I now have a fantastic portfolio which is still a work in progress. The workshop doesn’t just end when Kate leaves… she kindly forwarded me all of my photos on a disc, an invaluable resource list of where to buy products and is always in contact of you need further help. Half way through my GCSEs we had our Drama Award Evening. My Mum was as proud as punch when I won the Award for my year. Thank you Kate!

Kate came to our house to give my son Jack, almost 17, a 1:1 workshop, I found her via her website. My son had done Art in GCSE but chose not to do it for his A levels as he did not enjoy the time pressure and amount of homework, however, Jack realised he was missing doing Arts based subjects. As he is still not sure in which direction to head for his next step in education (presently doing Biology, PE and French), someone gave us the idea about him becoming a Make up Artist. Jack discovered 6 months ago that he enjoys doing face/body painting on himself and got lots of praise for it . . . Kate taught Jack techniques to create scars and special monster effects. Jack really enjoyed this workshop and it has definitely inspired him to take it further . Thank you Kate.
